Thistles

It’s the time of year when wild plants start to grow on our farm in Randolph County. We have an abundance of thistle. They are weeds, but the birds love them, so we let them grow for the most part. Here are a couple of images from behind my barn.

A Taste of Spring

(photograph copyright 2009 by Dan Routh)

Crazy weather. From 16° and four inches of snow just a week ago to 80° weather this week, things have been changing quickly. The warm temperatures have brought out the blossoms as this photograph of blooming plum trees at my home near Greensboro shows. Is Spring on it’s way, or is nature just pulling our leg?

Fall Leaves

I pulled off on the way to work in Greensboro this morning and grabbed a quick shot of a tree I pass every day. The leaves this year are really spectacular around here. Don’t know what that means in terms of our upcoming winter. I’m sure the old folks around here can tell me.

In My Own Backyard

I’ve begun to notice that you don’t have to go far sometimes to find interesting images. I love to travel as much as anyone and sometimes I feel that if I’m not in some exotic local, I can’t find anything to shoot. Then I walk out my backdoor and stumble upon something that grabs my attention. I hope from time to time to share my backyard moments.
