Picking Up Rocks

When I was a child my grandfather would gather all the grandchildren a couple of time of years and we would pick up rocks on our fields by hand. The technology has developed and now the process is mechanized. Here the crew at Koopman Dairy picks up rocks on their new ground near Grays Chapel, North Carolina.

One Hundred Years

Yesterday Grays Chapel Elementary School celebrated its one hundred year anniversary. A community school, my family has been connected with it for three generations. Formally a 1 through 12 union school, my Mom, my Dad, my brother and my sister all graduated there. My father and wife taught there. My Dad was principal there and my two sons and I attended there.

The image is of the current student body arranged on the ball field.
