Henri Cartier-Bresson spoke of the “decisive moment” in photography. I was shooting pigeons on their roost behind the Wythe House when a bird decided to create it’s own moment.

Blue Heron

While visiting the Pisgah Covered Bridge in southern Randolph County, North Carolina we had a visiter. A blue heron landed near the entrance, walked through the bridge and then around and under it to fish in the rocks of the creek. Evidently he had been here before.
